ORTIZ SEEKS BIG 2015-16 SEASON!Standout Midfielder Also Named Team's Camp Director
May 14th, 2015
(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Lancers today announced the return of Jeremy Ortiz. This will be his fourth season with the club.
After a one-year hiatus from the team to play in the top leagues of Australia, the 29 year old New Jersey native made his return to the Lancers during the 2014-15 campaign. The addition proved to be a catalyst, as the Lancers went on to have their best season yet, narrowly missing their chance to play in the MASL semi-finals.
Ortiz, a former member of the US National Futsal Team, has made a big impact on every Lancers roster he’s been on. In just 15 games this past season, he generated nine goals, nine assists, and 18 regular season total points, putting him fifth on the team in scoring.
He has also been a key staple in the Lancers community initiatives over the years. That experience, paired with seven years of youth, high school, and collegiate coaching made him a great candidate to be the team’s Camp Director. The Lancers named him to the position this spring and he will run all of the team’s camps and clinics, including the summer camp program. “I am excited to be coming back for my fourth season with the Lancers,” said Ortiz. “I believe with the progress we made this past season, we have what it takes to win the title for this city. The best is yet to come.”
