(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Lancers today presented the proceeds of a game worn jersey auction to Hillside Family of Agencies. The auction, which featured the team’s jerseys worn in the historic and thrilling playoff victory against Syracuse, raised over $3,000 for the local charity.
This was the first time the Lancers held an online jersey auction for their fans, but it proved to be a success. The team also recently raised $6,000 for new protective vests for the Rochester Police Department. To date, the Lancers have raised over $100,000 for charities since their start in 2011.
“Being a locally owned team, we take a lot of pride using our resources to give back to this amazing community,” said Rich Randall, President of the Lancers. “We’ve been extremely fortunate with the local support for the Lancers, so we like to extend that support back whenever possible, especially to a great organization like Hillside.”
The auction was open to the public and featured the team’s jerseys that were worn during the first playoff win in team history. Proceeds will benefit the many children and families that Hillside serves in our community.
"On behalf of Hillside Family of Agencies we’d like to thank the Rochester Lancers for the generous donation from the jersey auction,” said Mary Hadley, Rochester Region Director - Relationship Management & Marketing. “2014 was a great season and we are happy to have such a wonderful community partner who invests in our efforts on behalf of youth and families right here in Rochester."
