The addition of player/assistant coach Brooke Barbuto has brought optimism to the Lancers organization. The Syracuse native comes with vast college and professional experience.
Brooke was a Five-year letter winner at T.J. Corcoran High School in Syracuse, N.Y. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and was selected to First Team All-League, County, and State Team. She was named team MVP in her Junior and Senior campaigns, and was a five-time scholar athlete, a Who’s Who Among American High School Students selection, and tabbed as a United States Achievement Academy All-American Scholar. Brooke also played lacrosse for two seasons.
A four-year starter at Stony Brook University, she finished her college career with 17 goals and 9 assists. While at Stony Brook she was selected to the All-Academic team, America East All-Rookie
Team, All-America East First Team, NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team, Soccer Buzz Magazine’s All-Northeast Region Second Team, and America East Tournament All-Championship
team. She served as Team Captain and was selected Most Valuable Player in her Senior Year.
After college Brooke went on to play professional Soccer for The Buffalo Flash (Western New York Flash) in 2009-2010. With the questionable stability of USL Women’s League, Brooke found herself continuing her professional career overseas. Her first experience was in 2011 in Iceland with Haukar, where she tallied a total of 9 goals and 9 assists. Her next move was to GBK in the Finnish First Division from 2012 to 2013 where Brooke helped them get promoted to the Finnish Top Flight. She finished both seasons with a total of 34 goals and 15 assists. She continued her playing career in 2014 in Finland with Nice Futis of Pori. She totaled 26 goals and 10 assists along with receiving MVP honors in her first season.
In 2017 Brooke Barbuto moved to Australia and played for the Peninsula Power where she picked up major silverware, winning Most Valuable Player honors for the NPL Women's Queensland League. She won the Golden Boot by scoring 28 times in 20 matches to lead the Power to the Premiership-Championship double.
Brooke has been a certified USSF official for over 15 years. She loves being involved in the game and helping players in anyway possible.
Brooke has assisted with the U14 Syracuse Development Academy Girls, where she has been helping for the past two years. Prior to playing overseas she was the Head Women’s
Soccer Coach at Bryant & Stratton College for two seasons. While home in the off-season she has been coaching the CNYFSC House program for 8 years. Brooke also does a lot of
personal training. She believes the most important part of a player’s game is their technical ability. This is one of the strongest parts of her game and loves to share her knowledge and
skill with the eager youth.
Brooke lives in Syracuse, NY and has been part of the Syracuse Silver Knights staffing since the team’s inception.
