Robert E. Rich Sr. All High Stadium was the setting for the second matchup of the season between the Rochester Lancers and FC Buffalo. On an unusually cool mid-June night, it was a playoff 6 pointer, as a win for the Lancers would draw them even on points with Buffalo, and a Buffalo win would give them a 6 point advantage.
The Lancers almost struck first, with Will Stone hitting the crossbar in the 5th minute. This seemed to wake up Buffalo and midfielder Sammy Wasson put his mark on the game, with some beautiful dribbling and passing. It looked like the game was headed for a scoreless half when Keane McIvor played Troy Brady through and he dribbled past Lancer keeper James Lepetit to put Buffalo up 1-0 at half.
FC Buffalo came out strong in the second half, forcing some big saves from Lepetit, but he couldn't keep out former Lancer Gary Boughton, who finished a pass from Brady to make it 2-0 in the 75th minute. Buffalo would make it 3-0 in the 88th minute as substitute Akean Shakelford crossed it to Pedezert who layed it off to McIvor for his 3rd of the season.
The win puts FC Buffalo at 5-2-2 and in 3rd place in the Midwest East Conference.
The loss drops the Lancers to 3-3-2 as them remain in 5th place.
The Lancers travel to Erie on Sunday to meet the Commodores, and Buffalo travels to Ft. Pitt.
