Today I am joined by Lancers forward Peter Dilorenzo. We discuss him growing up on Long Island, joining the Lancers, and the US Open Cup.
Peter started his career on Long Island and was a rare talent in that he was a exceptional goalkeeper as well as a field player, actually being recruited as a goalkeeper by colleges.
He won a New York State High School Title with Hicksville High School, defeating future team mate Anthony Rozzano and his Webster Schroeder High School Team in the State Final.
Peter joined SUNY Brockport after High School, telling me that he had never been to the Rochester area before the move. He had a very successful college career at SUNY Brockport where he earned All-America honors, first team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), second team All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the Huntley Parker Offensive Player of the Year award from the SUNYAC.
He finished his career with 41 goals and 8 assists.
Following his collegiate playing experience, Dilorenzo was selected for the USA Division III select team which competed in four friendly matches prior to the Olympics in 2016. He then went on to Germany to play in their 3rd division with F.C. Carl Zeiss Jena, before returning home, joining the Lancers.

Coaching seems in the cards for Peter as he accepted a role as an Assistant Coach with his Alma Mater SUNY Brockport and also serves as a coach with the Rochester lancers Youth Academy.
